All members and member representatives who associate with the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce implicitly agree to read and adhere to the following membership Code of Conduct approved by the Chamber's Board of Directors.
Membership Code of Conduct
As an entity associated with the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce, which includes the following:
- Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce Board Members
- Mid-America LGBT staff, contractors, and vendors
- Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce members and member representatives
- Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce ambassadors and volunteers
I/we recognize that association is a privilege that brings with it the responsibility to assure that all members and their representatives understand and commit to the following code of conduct.
Entities associated with the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce, strive to advocate, promote, and facilitate the success of the LGBT business community and their allies through the guiding principles of equality, inclusion, economics, and education and to that end, agree to be honor-bound by these Standards of Business:
Conduct and Ethics:
Entities associated with the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce will understand, support, and promote the vision and mission of the Mid-America LGBT Chamber Commerce and cooperate with fellow entities in the application of this Code of Conduct.
Entities associated with the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce will respect the reputation, profile and status of the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce and represent the Chamber accordingly.
Entities associated with the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce will support the ideals and goals of this organization, as well as support the LGBTQ+ and allied community in general, in an inclusive, constructive, and positive manner.
Entities associated with the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce will conduct business with honesty, integrity, and fairness with respect to customers, clients, and employees alike.
Entities associated with the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce will not unlawfully discriminate based upon race, color, creed, religion, national origin, age, disability, veteran’s status, marital status, gender, gender
identity or sexual orientation.
Entities associated with the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce will advertise their goods and services in accordance with all applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations.
Entities associated with the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce will conduct business with adherence to the laws of the state where they are located and to business or professional codes existent for their business or profession and in accordance with generally accepted business practices.
Entities associated with the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce shall always exercise due respect while attending, interacting, or communicating with other members or their guests at Chamber events or functions. This includes, but is not limited to, refraining from engaging in blatant or repeated rude, offensive, disorderly, or demeaning conduct or speech toward others. The Chamber will not tolerate misogynistic, sexist, racist, or homophobic conduct or speech; unwanted sexual advances toward other members or their guests; or any other conduct or speech which disrespects or demeans the personal identity of any other person at Chamber events or functions.
Adherence to our Bylaws:
Entities associated with the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce will abide by the Bylaws of the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce and Rules of Operation for any applicable programs of the Chamber. The Bylaws serve as the governing document and will supersede all other documents. The Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce, acting through the Board of Directors and consistent with our duly enacted Bylaws, reserves the right to review membership based on adherence to and/or alleged violations of the standards described herein.
Implied Agreement
By participating in the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce and its activities, I/we also understand that the failure to adhere to the professional and personal obligations of the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce, as outlined above and defined in the Chamber Bylaws, can result in the termination of my/our membership.
