April marks Child Abuse Prevention Month, and what better way to start than by joining CASA for an afternoon filled with learning, connection, and celebration? CASA’s annual Open House on April 8 is an opportunity to explore the many ways you can support their mission while deepening your understanding of trauma, resilience, and healing.
Remarkably Resilient Together (RRT) Training
Time: 1:30 – 3:00 PM
Kick off the day with an enlightening training session on the neuroscience of trauma and resilience. Led by Kathleen Harnish McKune, co-founder of TeamTech and Remarkably Resilient, and Tim DeWeese, Director of Johnson County Mental Health, this session will provide valuable insights into the power of healing and hope through real-life experiences. This is an incredible opportunity for community members to gain deeper knowledge and practical tools to support those impacted by trauma.
CASA Open House
Time: 3:00 – 6:00 PM
Following the training, step inside CASA and meet the dedicated staff, volunteers, and community members who work tirelessly to support children experiencing abuse and neglect. Learn more about CASA’s impactful programs, discover upcoming initiatives for 2025, and enjoy interactive activities hosted by each department. Attendees will also have the chance to win exciting raffle prizes while savoring delicious BBQ, generously provided by Mazuma Credit Union.
Celebrating 40 Years of Champions
This year’s Open House is extra special as CASA celebrates 40 Years of Champions—four decades of advocating for and providing a lifeline to children in need. Join us to honor this milestone, reflect on the progress made, and discover how you can be part of CASA’s mission moving forward.
Don’t miss this inspiring event! Whether you’re looking to deepen your understanding of trauma, connect with like-minded community members, or explore ways to support CASA, there’s something for everyone at this year’s Open House.
