Tell us about your business?

Turner's Kansas City office is composed of 225+ construction professionals responsible for more than $800 million of construction on an annual basis. Since opening our doors in Kansas City in 1988, we have built some of the most iconic projects in the Kansas City community. We provide a great value to our clients with the combination of our national purchasing power and our ability to engage smaller, local firms. Over the years, we are proud to have cultivated excellent relationships with many subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and minority- and women-owned business enterprises (M/WBEs). Through our efforts to promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the construction industry, we are growing our culture of inclusion so that everyone feels a sense of belonging and psychological safety. Our portfolio includes renovation projects from less than one million dollars to major new construction of several hundred million dollars. We partner with clients of all sizes who value our input and collaboration as well as our expertise in balancing program, budget, time, and aesthetics on some of the most challenging, sophisticated, and iconic projects in the region. We don't just build buildings, we build relationships.

What's a recent success story or milestone you're proud of?

We conduct our business consciously and responsibly, protecting the health and safety of our people and the environment. Climate change is one of the biggest global challenges facing us today. The built environment is responsible for as much as 40% of global greenhouse gases annually. As the largest green builder in the United States, we are dedicated to improving the environmental performance and resilience of our projects, our operations, and our business – for our clients, our communities, and each other. Over the past two decades, we have delivered more than 1,000 green building projects, which represent more than $60 billion worth of work. We have also committed ourselves to decarbonizing the construction process. Together with our clients and partners, we continue to move the baseline – defining and re-defining what it means to build green by setting and achieving ever-more rigorous standards.

What do you love most about being part of this Chamber?

The Mid-America LGBT Chamber creates meaningful connections and partnerships that form, in large part, because of the dynamic environment created by the Chamber and Chamber members. The Chamber creates a true sense of community, bringing together businesses, leaders, and professionals who share a common goal of growth, collaboration, and inclusion. The events are more than just networking opportunities; they’re moments of shared success, celebration, and mutual support, fostering a spirit of unity and innovation that elevates everyone involved. For Turner, being part of this vibrant network is both inspiring and rewarding, making it a cornerstone of our growth and engagement strategy.

What would you like our Chamber members to know about your business which isn’t necessarily obvious?

We built some of Kansas City's most iconic projects to include Kansas Speedway, Children's Mercy Park, Arrowhead Renovations, Compass Minerals National Performance Center, and the Bartle Hall extension!
