The Mid-America LGBT Chamber condemns Missouri House Bill 2173 which runs contrary to the 2015 Supreme Court decision affirming Marriage Equality.

Missouri a great place to do business. In fact, Missouri is in the top 20 of all U.S. States in attracting new business to our community. In the interest of remaining economically competitive, we must focus on legislation that features Missouri as an inclusive state to live, work, and play.

The Chamber therefore condemns Missouri House Bill 2173 (HB2173), which runs contrary to the 2015 Supreme Court decision affirming Marriage Equality, as an indicator to our citizens, businesses, and the rest of the country that the state does not support diversity or LGBT equality.

The Chamber encourages Missouri legislators to consider the impact of anti-LGBT legislation on the state’s ability to compete for new business, attract national events, and other economic opportunities. Furthermore, we insist Missouri lawmakers remain committed to introducing policy that expands our ability to fuel economic growth in the region.

The Chamber is actively engaged with legislators, the business community, and community outreach groups to stop HB2173 and any other anti-LGBT bills in the 2020 legislative session. However, we also encourage all our members to get involved.
