The Chamber's Board of Directors has approved its 2020 Public Policy Platform and announced its 2020 Public Policy Calendar.
At the January 16th board meeting of the Mid-America LGBT Chamber, Public Policy Committee Chair and Board Member Leon Harden presented the final draft of the 2020 Public Policy Platform and it was approved unanimously. The top Public Policy issues for the Chamber in 2020 are:
- Market Access for LGBTQ Employees and Consumers
- Non-Discrimination Legislation Protecting LGBTQ Employees and Citizens
- Access to Culturally Competent Healthcare
- Family Benefits for LGBTQ Families
- Safe and Reliable Public Transportation for LGBTQ Riders
2020 Public Policy Calendar
Along with the passing of the Public Policy Platform, the committee also release its 2020 Public Policy Calendar. This is a calendar of events and communications that will occur throughout the year to reinforce the Public Policy Platform and engage members around issues of Public Policy.
January 2020
Platform Approved and Calendar Announced
The Public Policy Platform will be approved and released to Chamber membership, and the Public Policy Committee will release its first Public Policy Calendar.
February 2020
Queer the Census
The Public Policy Committee will release communication related to the 2020 Census and why it's important for LGBTQ people to be represented.
March 2020
Voter Registration Drive
The Public Policy Committee will provide direction and communication to help members get registered to vote and make an informed decision.
April 2020
Public Policy Forum at MasterMinds
The Public Policy Forum will be held for Chamber members to get involved in local issues and connect with local elected officials.
May 2020
Legislative Session Update
The Public Policy Committee will release an update on current bills, key issues, and representative voting.
June 2020
Representative Round Table
The Public Policy Committee will host a round table event with local, state, and nationally elected leaders to talk about current policy issues.

The Public Policy Committee of the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce exists to advocate for the Chamber's Public Policy Platform and influence legislation at all levels of government, furthering the economic well-being of its members.
